Foundation registrations every Indian exporter and importer must hold — IEC from DGFT, RCMC from Export Promotion Councils, and MSME Udyam from the Ministry.
Before any business can move goods across India's borders or claim a single rupee under the Foreign Trade Policy, three foundational registrations must be in place. Without these, Customs cannot clear shipments, banks cannot remit foreign exchange, and DGFT will not issue authorisations.
EXPORTAS takes the entire registration burden off your desk — IEC from DGFT, RCMC from your relevant Export Promotion Council, and MSME Udyam Aadhar from the Ministry of MSME — with all documentation, online submissions, follow-ups, and certificate delivery handled by our team.
IEC (Importer-Exporter Code) is a 10-digit code issued by the DGFT that is mandatory for any business that wants to import or export from India. Without an IEC, Customs will not clear your shipment.
RCMC (Registration Cum Membership Certificate) is issued by the relevant Export Promotion Council and is mandatory to avail benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy — including any DGFT authorisation, duty drawback, or export incentive scheme.
MSME Udyam Registration recognises your business as a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise, unlocking priority sector lending, government scheme participation, and protection under the MSMED Act.
IEC is granted for a lifetime but must be confirmed/updated annually on the DGFT portal between April and June. RCMC is valid for five financial years from 1st April of the licensing year of issue. MSME Udyam Registration has lifetime validity with periodic re-classification based on turnover and investment criteria.
